You say Twitter, Rick Perry says Tweeter

August 5 Update: Huffington Post got ahold of Governor Rick Perry’s college transcript from his undergraduate studies at Texas A&M. And let’s just say this: You only see this many Cs and Ds on a multiple choice exam.

Here’s a link to Perry’s report card.

A little more than three months ago, I blogged about a chance meeting I had with Texas Governor Rick Perry that occurred as we lay on separate massage tables at a back and spine rehab center in south Austin grousing about running, newspapers, and social media.

Last weekend, Perry accepted an award for new media activism.

There is irony here. A few days before our chance meeting at the rehab center, Perry had been in the news for, among other things, blocking Texas journalists from his twitter feed, @GovernorPerry.

On the rehab table back then Perry told me that, “Oh, I was just giving those guys a hard time. You know, the First Amendment cuts both ways.”

Last weekend, in his video address accepting the award, Perry said, “you can always follow me on tweeter.”

Ok, so Perry may want to let somebody else handle the social media aspect of a potential presidential campaign.

I heard this on the Jon Stewart show I think. It’s a shame, in one way, how quickly someone can be dismissed for a small snafu. But it’s a BIGGIE for the social generation…it just minimizes his credibility *just like that* (snap your finger).
